Openverse is an extensive library of stock photos, images, and audio that have all been made available for free use by the WordPress project. Openverse provides access to free CC licensed and public domain images from sources such as Nasa, SpaceX, Wikimedia, Flickr and WordPress.

With the release of Instant Images 5.1, we’ve added an integration for Openverse using their official developer API that brings access to all of Openverse right inside of your WordPress dashboard.

Instant Images now offers API integrations with Unsplash, Openverse, Pixabay and Pexels, providing access to millions of high-quality images in a single WordPress plugin.

Wrapping Things Up

Instant Images has been an extremely fun project to work on for the WordPress community and we hope the addition of the Openverse integration brings even more value to everyone who uses the plugin. In a future release, we hope to add Openverse API authentication and registration allowing users to register for API keys inside of their WordPress dashboards.
